Course Information

How much homework do students have to do?

Homework is not compulsory. We are fully aware that students have many other commitments and may have little time outside their class time for further study. If you wish to have homework please see your teacher.

Can I trial a class before committing to the course?

SGSCC English is happy for you to trial the class before committing to the whole course. You need to be sure that the course is going to help you in your educational journey.

What do I need to bring to class?

All teaching resources are provided.

What teaching methods do you use? What books and other materials are used?

Our teachers are all specialist English Language teachers who use a variety of teaching methods in order to cater for individual needs. The course covers all four basic macro skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We also cover grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and computer skills.

What are the ages of the students?

Our students range in age from 18 to 60+.

Is there an age limit on learning English?

You are never too old to learn English.

What is the nationality mix?

We have a wonderful mix of nationalities from all over the world.

Do I need to sit an exam or assessment before I start?

In your first lesson the teacher will give you a number of informal assessments and activities in order to determine your level of English or literacy. This will help the teacher design a program to meet your individual needs. These tasks are not challenging and we do not expect 100% accuracy. However if the thought of an assessment is too stressful please tell your teacher and we can organise an alternate activity.

Do I have to attend day classes on all three days - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday?

You may choose to attend 1 or 2 days depending on your personal circumstances.

How many levels do you have?

We cater for all levels from Beginners to Advanced.
